Small business startup help please!!?

Q) I'm really good on computers and I was thinking about doing an at home computing help business. I would be paid by cash, and it would be things like helping to install and use programs, nothing too hard. What things do I need to consider, eg licence, insurance? Ta :)

A) You would just have to register with your local courthouse, and get a DBA (Doing Business As), a license to do business in your area. I think its a great idea, people do need help in these areas. Ever hear of the Geek Patrol? Big city help like the one you want to do. I don't think you'll need insurance or bonding, but its up to the county what you will need. Paid in cash only? Sounds suspicious. Most people pay with checks for their records. Consider this.

Q) How does one go about getting a small business loan or grant for startup money for a business? I guess I also need to add that this is for a tattoo shop, not sure if that makes a difference. No credit has been established yet, but you have to start somewhere!

What is better for a small startup business..Microsoft Accounting Express or Quicken Home and Business??

A) I now make my living by straightening out bookkeeping blunders by companies that do not hire an experienced bookkeeper. I'm not familiar with the Microsoft software and haven't used quicken in years. I use Quickbooks but that has gotten more and more difficult to use but if you have any accounting background, it's easy as pie. I understand they have changed their payroll set up for 2007. QB's is flexible enough to cover any type of business except year end church donations to donors. But then, that could just be me. Most important is a clean set of books, set up properly so that your taxes and financials are correct according to accounting standards.

What's a good small startup business for me to start, and hopefully grow over a little time?

Q) I'm 22 with a college education and ready to go :D I want to work for myself, and now's the time to start.

A) It took me 3 degrees before I figured out I needed to work for myself to be happy and to earn what I was worth. I own a health/wellness home based business with TNI.
