LG DVD recorder-problems?

Q) Hi, Can anyone help me with this? I have an LG dvd recorder RH7500,with 80GB hard drive, and have had consistent problems copying from the hard drive to a disc.It just won't initialize the disc for some reason,so I end up filling up the hard drive with stuff I want to put onto discs,and then i'm stuck and have to delete half of it.We have tried cleaning the heads with limited success.Has anyone else had any problems or any ideas how to sort out the problem? thanks very much .I can't actually burn any films onto the disc as the disc won't initialize.That's where the problem lies.I have tried all different brands but no luck.It's unfortunately not recognizing any blank discs at all. it worked alright at the beginning but it's now 18 months old so can't return it

A) hi, Not sure if you have tried this.... make sure right format dvd disc to record on have you formatted disc before you record, if - format have you finalist disc before you watch it if you have done all this before and there is still a problem, then it would be internal, and will need to be sent away to be fixed, sorry to give you bad news wg

a good DVD recorder, LG RH177 ?

Fitted LG DVD Ram burner to my pc which is up to date, it only recognises it as a cd drive how do I burn dvds?

A) If your DVD drive is not recognized as a DVD drive and burner, it probably does not have correct drivers loaded. Should have came with a disk to install the drivers, or use the drivers found at the manufactures website. You should check the website for newer version drivers even if you use the included disk to get it working initially.

How do I get sound through an LG DVD player?

Q) A reletive asked me to check their DVD player as she couldnt get sound from it. My 1st thought was it would be a loose cable, so checked them and they're fine, so it must be a setting. It's an LG plasma with an LG DVD player. She's getting sound on the TV but not when playing a DVD. She is getting a perfect picture when playing DVD's, but just no sound. She couldnt find the book for it, but nothing looked out of the ordinary when I checked the settings. I think it must be the DVD player rather than the TV. Can anyone help?

A) first check the dvd volume.. because it might have one. then check the volume on the tv.. if everything is hooked up right.. it should work.. but a cable could be bad.. but useally not both.. what kind of cable are you using? also.. check to see if you have it hooked on video 1 with all the three cables.. that's if your using RCAs because sometimes people will put the yellow cable on video 1 and the red and white cables on video 2.. just a thought

A) have you gone in to the other menu, I think its the setup menu for the DVD drive not the hard drive and in that menu there is a option at the bottom that let you initialize the disc so it can be played on other dvd players. So to recap. Burn the files/movie etc on to the disc, then goto the setup menu in the DVD mode not the HDD mode and select the bottom option to initialize the disc, think it take a couple of minuties to do so.

How Do I Connect My LG Dvd Home Cinema System To Work With Sky?? I Have Only Got It To Work On Dvds.?

Q) I have an LG plasma television the model is a 50PC1D. I have recently bought an LG HT552TH 500w HDMI DVD Home Cinema System. I have followed the instructions carefully and have managed to use my surround sound on dvds but it wont work with sky. Is there an input on my television which enables surround sound to work or is there a special cable or something that will make it work?? Any suggestions?

A) if you have the normal sky box, then all you can use is the phono connections ( red / white ) from that into your HCS, or use the phono connections from your tv into the HCS. This will only give you 2.1 ( front speakers to work. If you have sky+ and you HCS has an opticial connection then use that. This will give you 5.1 ( all speakers ) I'm not 100%, but doesn't your tv have an opiticial output, if yoyr HCS has the opticdial input this is the BEST connection to use. wg

A) Take it back. If it's only a week old and already defective, you have every right to return it to the shop and get a refund or replacement. If you decide on replacement, get a Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic or Toshiba. Unfortunately, LG products aren't very good quality anyway.

Q) it was working fine

A) If you can neither read nor write a DVD, I suspect the lens has become misaligned or is terribly dirty. Try cleaning with a CD lens cleaner. You could always try taking the DVD-RW unit apart and cleaning the lens with a cotton bud and some CD lens cleaning fluid, but be careful. It's not really advisable to take the unit apart as the laser could cause serious eye damage. I'm afraid if you can't get it to work, it looks like it's time to purchase a new one.

New LG DVD recorder not working as per the specifications in the manual.?

Q) Bought new LG DVD recorder from Singapore. At home country found that it is not writing +/- DVD R disks (as in the manual). However is writing +/- DVD RW. Sought help from LG service centre. Set returned back to me after 3 months saying it has to be taken back to Singapore for servicing. Can anybody help what to do?

LG DVD player intermittently stops playing,?

Q) I have a LG DN191H dvd player connected to a Panasonic (50PX60U) 50" plasma tv via an hdmi cable. When I watch a dvd (i've tried several different ones), every couple of minutes the screen goes black for a second, and then comes back on, a little box appears on the screen in the corner "hdmi 2". Its as if the dvd player temporarily stopped sending a signal to the tv. Please help!!!

A) To tell you the truth, I think the HDMI interface leaves a lot to be desired in that I have yet to see any clear difference in picture quality over standard RCA type cables connected to component inputs. I think what's happening is that the TV is loosing the HDMI cable sensing info. Try connecting your DVD player using RCA cables between the DVD's component output and one of the TV's component inputs. If this works, leave it and get your money back on the overpriced HDMI cable. Let us know how it worked out!

LG dvd burner is not working okay ???

Q) hello all .. i just installed a LG dvd burner in my desktop ..i replaced my LG dvd ROM with this burner ...it's working fine in another desktop ..but in here its showing my movie files has space of 0 bites ...so cud anybody please tell me what might be wrong now ...so far i did 1) jumper settings are all okay ..it works fine in another PC 2) connections are all okay ..PC is detecting this device in device manager 3) power supply to this device is all okay ..green light blinks in the beginning any other suggestion please .. thanks

A) try to check with anti-virus, then update your burning software

Are LG Dvd-writer a good choice?

Q) I bought a Lg dvd writer but now im not sure about Lg is a good brand for DVD-writer.Do i better buy a better one like a Nec or anything else?

A) If you've already bought it then there is no point in buying another one until that one breaks, unless you are already having problems with it. My friend recently bought an LG DVD Writer and he has been having serious problems with it whereby it is not recognising DVD's when he puts them into the drive. It looks as though it might be a driver issue but he has searched far and wide on the internet to find the latest drivers and has come up with nothing. Personally after his experience would steer well clear of LG when it comes to DVD Writers.

My LG Cd writer is not working after firmware updating mistakenly for LG DVD writer.Computer also not starting

Q) I have LG cd writer in my PC.I brought a new LG DVD writer.The Cd that came with that had DVD solution -bundled software , having nero,power dvd etc.After installing this at system tray LG ODD firmware update notification was coming frequently & I go ahead with that but without fixing my new DVD writer.After this cd writer not working & also PC not starting even to BIOS mode.Please help what can I do to solve this.

A) open your computer case, remove the cables from all your storage devices, (ie: disk,CD,Floppy,DVD....) then try running your PC, if it runs then install floppy disk, and try again, then shutdown, and install Hard disk, ..... if your PC didn't run from the first step, when you disconnected all storage devices, then the problem is now in your Motherboard Bios. if it worked in first step but failed to work after adding CD or harddisk, then first try that device on another PC, if it worked, then you have some interface error in your motherboard, unfortunately you will have to replace the motherboard??!.

My LG DVD player won't play DVDs, only VCDs?

Q) My LG DVD player won't play DVDs, only VCDs, PBCs and MP3 discs. It shows a "disc error" when I try to play a DVD. How can I fix this?

A) There can be several reasons why the issue might occur. Your DVD player may only play DVD movies and not recorded DVDs (like when you burn data or movies to a DVD+R or DVD+RW). Consult the DVD player manual to verify the formats that can be played in your playre. The second reason as someone mentioned was the issue of playing pirated DVDs. Most of the DVDs in the market are usually copy-protected, so you won't be able to play pirated discs. Finally ensure that the "region" setting of your DVD player matches the region of the DVD. DVDs manufactured in the USA usually have region spec of 1. So if you are trying to play a Japanese DVD on a player meant to play region 1 DVDs, you will get the "disc error". Also ensure that the DVD is not scratched. To verify this, clean the DVD with a moist cloth and let it dry. Try playing the DVD in some friend's DVD player or a computer DVD drive.

LG DVD writer problem, pls help.?

Q) LG DVD writer problem, pls help.? Hello, I recorded an audio CD 19 song in ( CD-RW or rewritable CD) but I want to erase again but how? Because when I open the Disc E and delete the CD file it says " you are on the read file" and when I go to nero in "Extras" and I click "erase CD" but the word "ERASE" cannot be click. pls help me. thnx in advance.

A) You just ran into the reason that I gave up on using RW format discs. Even if you get them to erase, you can have problems then trying to write to them again. I have a handfull of CD-RW's that I got Roxio CD-Creater to erase, now nothing will program them again. I have Nero, Veratias(sp?), and 9 other programs and none will recognize them as open or erased disks, most say that they are invalid or full. Since the single write disks are so cheap now, I don't bother with them at all. BTW: I ran into the same issue with DVD-RW & DVD+RW, Only DVD-RAM is truly read-writable. Q) I am looking for the best dvd/vsh recorder combo there is, I have though about getting the LG because it looks pretty good but am not able to find many user reviews about it on-line, does anyone have experience with this recorder?

LG DVD Player & Region Codes?

Q) I have an LG dvd player taht only plays Region 2 and 4 dvds however I need to play a region 1 and 3 set of dvds. I have changed the language and country code to the USA but it doesnt work as my Region 2 dvds still work, is there any way around this even though it says only region 2 dvds?

Connect your DVD player to your computer and upgrade it, in the way that LG company says. But I recommend you to choose the first way!
