My washing machine (Hoover WDM 150) wont spin!?

Q) My washine machine will not spin. The drum turns round during the wash, the water drains away but spin doesnt start. I have checked all filters and appear to be ok. Pressure switch seems to be working as can hear clicking during operation (I have taken the pipe off and blown into it and can hear it click - not sure if this proves it is working but seems to be). I am reduced to thinking it is something to do with the switch/circuit board but this looks like it has a mass of wires connecting to it and am loathe to buy spare and try to fit, not knowing how hard it will be. Any advice (apart from call out an engineer)? Thnaks...

A) If it has an electronic touch pad for the settings, you may be right. The circuit could have shorted. If you can get to it, and remember how to re-attach the wires, you may be able to jump the short and solider the short using a small length of phone wire. If it is a knob type switch, it may have dropped a cam-pin at the spin setting. Some of the knob type have several little silver pins that will slip into a slot on the board to complete the circuit. Last possibility. The motor may be worn out. Take off the cover and see if it looks like oil and worn "fan-belt" dust.

A) if you start charging yourself $1.50 every time you do a load of laundry, you will remember to take the change out of your pockets before you start washing. I made $113.75 that way last year. The only drawback is that it cost me $400 to install the change machine. Hopefully I can make that money back once I install the soda and candy machines, newspaper rack and cigarette dispensers in my den.
