Where can I rent (or borrow) a Sony Digital 8 camcorder or playback unit ?

Q) My Sony Digital 8 camcorder was stolen and I need to transfer the old tapes onto new Mini Dv tapes, so I need the digital 8 camcorder for playback only - just for a few days !

A) check your local yellow pages under "video". There may be a company in your area that can either rent you a Digital8 camera...which is unlikely...or be able to the transfer of your tapes for you..for a fee, of course. Digital8 was for the most part a format that only Sony supported and the format never really caught on, so D8 camcorders are rare. If there's no one local then google "video tape to mini-dv transfers" and you'll find many companies that can do the work. Shop around for someone near you with a good price and mail them the tapes. So..the question will be how many hours you have to transfer which will determine the cheapest way to go. hope that helps...

how do i copy the video footage off my camcorder to a dvd?

Q) i have a sony camcorder (digital) it records onto a mini dv cassette. i have a pc with a dvd rewriter drive and a cable to link the two. i have also installed the driver for the camcorder and some of the software , but it only seems to record in mp3 format to my pc and not direct to a dvd. this uses up so much space and still no copy on dvd! whatcan i do?

A) i copy from a Sony Mini-DV camcorder direct to a Sony DVD recorder through Firewire (ilink) and avoid the PC altogether..You can copy on the fly. You control the camera via the dvd recorder. very easy

sony Camcorder, how do I transfer film to pc for burning onto dvd?

Q) Please can you help, I have a camcorder I bought about five yrs ago and several films that are full, some is rubbish, how do I edit them onto pc, copying what I want or cutting out bits I dont want. I still have the connection lead and manual but can not find the cd that came with it. Would appreciate help on process in easy to understand language and also if I need driver how to get one. The Camera is a Digital Video Camera Recorder DCR-TRV830E. also how do I use it to take still moving photos and is this possible. Thanks

A) I have added an link to PIXEL Image Mixer this is the disk that came with my Sony camcorder in 2002.I use it to edit my photos and films from my camcorder.As of the rest do you still have the manual??,as this will explain how to take photos on the film and to the memory stick,if you have lost this you should look on Sony.com and find an on line copy for your camcorder.One more thing you could download from Microsoft Movie maker 3 free this will do the same as the Prixea CD.

A) I look at ebay uk and seen similar prices to what follows, I think you can definitely find a better deal. I seen prices on eBay for the Sony Hi8 in the ranges from 10242 Rupees ($170US) to around 15062 Rupees($250US). I'm currently shopping around for a Sony camcorder myself, but I'm looking to get the latest DCR SR40 or DCR SR80 being released the 1st of October 2006 in the US. The DCR SR40 is listed on amazon for 36150 Rupees($600US) which has 30 GB hard-drive and 20x optical zoom. The DCR SR80 is listed on amazon for 48200 Rupees ($800US) which has 60 GB hard-rive and 10x or 12x optical zoom. If your looking at something more affordable, the mini dv or DVD camcorder are also a good option. The only draw back with the DVD camcorders is that the file format used to record, is not good for someone who is into video editing. The mid line of the Sony DVD camcorders is the DCR DVD405 which you can purchase from zoommania.com for 30848 Rupees ($512US) and the top of the line of the mini dv which is the DCR HC96 can be purchased for about same price. How to connect Sony Digital Camcorder DCR-SR100 to my computer? My computer does not recognize Sony USB device

Q) My computer doesn't recognize DCR-SR100. I tried to the driver posted on Sony website for other digital camcorder and it did not work.

A) Since that model is of hdd media, the appropriate connection will be via usb. downloading videos is simply as downloading a file from another drive. Just open the explorer and find the drive with a sony on it or any new drive that appeared under the computer file category (list of available drives). drag & drop those files either to save or to burn. it's that easy! you don't have to use any drivers.

when I transfer my digital camcorder (Sony digital 8) to my computer, the time on tape is missing, why?

Q) I can see the date on tape when I play it on Digital camcorder, but when I capture it using microsoft movie maker or ulead, I can't see the date on the finished avi file

A) i dont know your setup....but enable the menu date,time, on tv and also lcd

A) Almost every TV modelin USA has AV input in pal as well as NTSC system so .both system models can be viewed in the USA.your model seems PAL u can view your cassette on Any TV in USA but if you submit cassette to some one where from he will bring a DV player is a problem.

A) You can use any size memory stick. Most devices these days don't have a limit. If they make the memory stick then it will work.

my 1999 model sony digital camcorder...?

Q) is a very good camera, but when i get a usb connector to upload my clips to my software, (screenblast movie studio) it never recognized my device. i have another connector down in florida with my mom, AND IT WORKS PERFECTLY WELL,but i cant get it for a long time, and i need to edit my videos before i go back down. any suggestions? and i doing something wrong? i tried everything the help menu in my software recomended.

A) If it has USB streaming, then yes. All you have to do is turn USB streaming and connect it to USB port on your compauter and its as if you connected your webcam to your computer. Make sure you install necessary driver.
