A) Try eBay. Also, call around some camera stores. Some may have one laying around on a dusty shelf somewhere and would be glad to get rid of it.
Also, if you know someone who is handy with a soldering iron, you could probably remove the existing power connector from the camera and replace it with a more standard connector. As long as your make sure the new power adaptor has the same voltage, milliamperage and polarity, you're good to go !!

A) with a usb cableHow do you finalise a disc on a Canon DVD Camcorder DC100?Q) I have tried to do it via the menu system but the option to finalise the disc is not showing as available to be used and I can't find the instruction manual anywhere. I've looked on the Canon website and it's no use at all!
A) the only possibilitys i can think of are it may not be listed under finalise, it may have finalised automatically and you didn't notice, but i think the best thing for you to do is take it back to were you brought it and if you brought it from jessops then they should be able to help whereas if you brought it from argos all they'd be able to do is replace it so maybe just take it back to jessops and say you brought it there and just ask for help.

Here are my system specs:

A) No, the USB or Firewire cable will facilitate the transfer of the videos from your camera to the laptop.
Firewire is faster in moving data than USB.
Just install the software that came with your camera. The Adobe premiere will allow you to edit your videos and add some special effects too.I have a Canon XM2 Mini DV Digital Camcorder, anyone know where I can get a tripod for this?Q) I have a Canon XM2 Mini DV Digital Camcorder, anyone know where I can get a tripod for this?
I cant find one anywhere online! (I live in the UK) so a uk website would be good. Hopefuly something not too expesive £100 max :-)
A) www.7dayshop.com. They have an excellent full price tripod for just £10.99! I have used it with excellent results with my Canon MV750i. Don't let the cheap price put you off. You can actually read other purchasers views of the item on the website. Here's just one:-
'I thought it was too cheap to be worthwhile but bought it because of the excellent reviews. They were fully justified, I am amazed at the quality of the tripod for this price. It is equivalent to models costing 2-3 times as much on other sites, very sturdy and no wobble.'

the site is unreadable.
A) I'm pretty sure that camera has been discontinued. Even an eBay search turned up only batteries, so I think you're out of luck, unless you somehow happen to stumble upon one. The best thing you can do now is just look for another camcorder. There many out there, and many have similar features and prices. Camcorderinfo.com is a great place to search. Hope this helps!Canon Camcorder purchased in USA?Q) Will the International Warranty will be available in India for a Canon Camcorder purchased in USA. If any one can guide I will be thankfull.

A) To load a video file from a camcorder you have to activate a movie program like Windows Movie Maker. When activated it will look for the port the camcorder is connected and if the unit is turned "on" to VCR mode it will give you a camcorder connected message and prompt you to input video. Buttons on the movie software display will turn on the camcorder and load the video to you hard drive. The Best Canon Camcorder You Can Buy?Q) Hi, I'm looking for a quality Canon camcorder, I need something that will allow me to upload videos to my computer and transfer to DVD, I'd also like something that can take still photos, but that's not essential. What are your suggestions?
A) There is really no right answer here... the real driving force is your needs... and budget. Almost every current camcorder will allow you to transfer to your computer [USB or Firewire]... burning a DVD on your computer is an independant action not related to your camcorder purchase. Most camcorders fail poorly when discussing still photos... they generally do not compare with a dedicated still camera. Most still picture photos from a camcorder are still in the 1 Megapixil or less camp... there are some which are just coming out which bost 3-5 mega pixil but that is due to a method of interpolation and the quality of this is in question.
1. Some suggestions to look for are how it feels in your hand... cameras that dont feel right, dont get used -- go to a store with a wide range of cameras and try them out to get a feel for the size that you like.
2. What type of video are you going to shoot... indoor dinner shots on a cruise are much different than out door beach shoots with friends. The former needs a camera that can handle low light situations well... the latter needs a camera that shoots bright light situations well.
3. Do you want to use DV tape [my personaly preference], hard drive [usually best for the consumer user if you want to make your own DVD on computer], shoot directly to DVD [best if you dont want to edit your tapes], or memory card.
4. Do you like to fiddle with your camera settings or have an auto everything camera? This is a big consideration... if you like to fiddle with settings and get one that discourages or not allow this, you will not like the camera... or if you dont like to fiddle with the camera and there are many settings you have to adjust, you will not like the camera and it will not get used as much.
5. Does your computer have a USB or Firewire port -- make sure your camera port is compatable with the computer port options(suggest firewire if you can -- even if that means updating your computer ports).
6. Battery length... how long does the battery last with out recharging... or do you need to carry multiple batteries... I have a camera that lasted 15 minutes on one battery... a major drag.
7. Viewer size... what is the size... larger is nicer... but uses more juice... can you close it and use a view finder [this saves major battery life--sometimes in bright light a lcd screen is not useful ] -- make sure it has a viewfinder on it and not just a flip lcd viewer on it.
8. What type of format do you want? There are new HD cameras hitting the market [which are very nice], the other options are the 3 ccd or 1 ccd cameras. If you can afford it, get the 3 ccd camera... will give a far superior shot to the 1 ccd camera... but can add significantly to the price.
Good luck.how do i copy from canon camcorder to computer?Q) it is not detecting any removable disk like that(like digicams).
i have a winows xp desktop. no firewire nothing.
so is ther neway of copying from the canon camcorder to computer?i connected to the usb->its saying that "the usb connected to it malfunctioned" smthg like that.
please help
A) You do really need a firewire connection, and if you haven't got one, it's well worthwhile getting a card. However, if you have connected via USB, have you installed the software? Have you opened a video editing program - you will have window movie maker - and tried using the capture function there? How do i hook my canon camcorder to my computer?Q) I just took many hours of footage on my canon zr700 camcorder and I need to transfer it to my computer to edit it then burn it to a disk, I have a usb cord, what do I do now how do I view my movie?
A) Ok, this is what u need to do,
Most of the camcorders do not have the facility for USB streaming. You need firewire cable. Firewire is the most popular, reliable and faster way to transfer large video files to the computer.
You need to check if you have these:
1. A firewire port in your computer (costs £10 approx)
2. A Firewire cable (usually not supplied with camcorder, costs £5 approx).
3. A video editing software (best for starters : Pinnacle Studio DV costs about £50 including the firewire port).
4. Oh also, a DVD burner.
I always use Pinnacle Studio DV software. It is really really easy but there are many others available too (more expensive ones for professional use).
With pinnacle studio DV, you can Add sound effects, title, remove the original soundtrack, add special effects, movie transition effects and many many more.
So once you are ready and have all the above requirements, just connect one end of the firewire cable to you camcorder and other to the computer, open the pinnacle studio DV (or windows movie maker which is supplied with Windows XP to download video - it doesn't give u much facility though), once the video is downloaded, just edit the video if you want, or just burn directly to DVD using Pinnacle studio DV software. You don't even need to use your DVD recording software.
I hope this helps. If you are stuck, leave your question on a feedback link of my website http://www.sentosajaipur.com and I will answer it ASAP. Oh also you need to leave your email address so that i can reply to you.
