i need a dental job?

Q) i live in telford , shropshire and my position as a dental nurse as become redundant , due to dentist leaving . finding it hard to find a dental job. need help. i might even have to get a different job for a while . help please only thing is , i passed the dental exam last year and in order to get my certificate have to do another three months chairside . cause i might not get a dental job will this effect this

A) Oh dont give up on being an aspirating beauty, we need you! Try getting some letters typed up on your computer and send them out along with your current CV to as many dental practises as possible, really sell yourself to these practises! If that fails why not try signing on with an agency, not ideal but at least you will still be getting a regular wage and keeping your hand in a job you obviously seem to enjoy! Shame you dont live in London, one of my nurses has left and we need a new one! Good luck and dont give up mate, you'll find something. No doing another 3 months chairside wont effect you getting another job in this field, just explain to any future employers that you have taken the exam and passed, but have to wait 3 months for your certificate to come through. Once you do the 3 months you are allowed to call yourself qualified!

Is a dental assistant job a good paying job?

A) It's a great paying job! As far as the 'contract', I've never heard of that... Like any other job, though, you need to earn your pay increases by attending continuing education classes, mandated infection control, OSHA, get certified and/or licensed and keep your Healthcare Provider CPR current. You can't just walk into an office and expect to make the 'big bucks' right away...... Once you're settled into assisting chairside, it's a good idea to learn the 'front desk' as well... then you'll be considered 'cross-trained' and are able to handle both tasks... and you'll be more valuable to your employer. If you live in a state that allows expanded duties, even better... Best of luck! :)

Going for job interview - completely new career - Dental nurse. Any tips?

Q) I am going for a job interview as a Trainee Dental Nurse within a practice. I have no experience in this field and it is a complete change of career for me. I am really excited at the thought of getting this job and was wondering if anyone had any advice/tips for me for getting a job within this field? Thank you!

A) Good on you girl! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you get this job! I 've been a dental nurse for more years than i care to remember and i really do enjoy my job. When you attend your interview 2 Moro make sure you look really smart, but not to over the top, dont wear any jewellery and try to leave any make up to the bare minimum, first impressions can make all the difference. Be as natural as possible, let them see the real you, if you have a humorous side let them see this side to you, a sense of humour in this job really does get you thorough the day at times, but also let them see your gentler side, you'll be meeting people from all walks of life in this job and you need to be able to communicate with them on all levels. Ask questions, try not to sit there and let them do all the talking, you need to let them see that your intrested in working in this field, ask questions about the surgery and the treatments the supply, do they specialise in particular treatments, how many patients do they see a day, are they computerised or do they still paper chart? My god, i have been doing this job for to long and cant actually think of any questions other than those i mentioned! They might ask you why you think you'd be right for the job and why you've applied for the position, this is the point you really sell yourself to them without going over the top. Be honest and tell them you have never worked in this field before now, but your a hard worker whose willing to learn, you can work as part of a team, you have great communication skills and get along with everybody, from the very young to the elderly, your not frightened of hard work and dont mind having to multi task when need's be. If you do get the job- and i really hope you do, you'll need to get yourself on a course for the National Exam for D/N'S as you will need to be registered with the GDC in July 2008, it may be worht bringing this up as it will show you have done some kind of background research. Hope all goes well for you 2moro, go in and really let them see that you'd be perfect for the job and they'd be mad to pass you by!

anyone got tips for a job interview dental nurse?

Q) I have previous experience but the training i received wasnt great and i'm scared i wont be able to cope in a new surgey. P.s haven't worked as a dsa for nearly 2 years

A) start looking up everything you can online to refresh your memory. don't worry, i'm sure you'll do great. remember to dress appropriately. i have personally seen many people get rejected because they looked "trashy" for their interview. arrive 10 minutes early as well, because when you're late, you do NOT look good.

Dental Paper Charting?

Q) Hi, Tomorrow I start a new job as a dental assistant, but have to paper chart. I am used to using the Kodak R4 system and haven't charted on paper before. The practice I am going to has provided me with information on paper charting, but some things do not make sense, so I'm wondering if someone could help. Firstly, there looks to a an L (meaning upper left quadrant) and then what looks to be a T. Then, there is another L (UL quadrant) and CE joined together in lower-case handwriting. Also, it lists VMK, but I have never needed to know what is VMK is in the previous practice (it was on the computer but a dentist never asked me to chart it). I hope someone can help by clarifying the above. Thank you in advance. Kind regards.

A) I'm a dentist. My practice uses paper charts and film x-rays. It'll be a cold day in hell before I change to paperless. And I'm a young doctor, fairly recently out of school. Relax. No one is going to give you a hard time while you learn to chart on paper. In fact, the doctor might even feel a little guilty that you're having to learn to use what many consider to be an outdated method!

how to apply for a job as a dental assistant in a different state?

Q) I'll be attending college out of state and I would like to apply for a dental assisting job. Only issue is, I have no time between my two jobs right now or the finances to make an extra trip up there and find one before the semester starts. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

A) In terms of the Job Market, if you ended up making a trip, there are no guarantees that it will lead into Job. The suggestion that I have is to go through Health care Recruiting Firm in that specific market and see if they can assist you in the Job Search. The advantages are that the Recruiting Firm will have contacts with local businesses, hospital, medical organizations, doctors, so they can always point you in the right direction. The other option also is to go through at the State Organization to see if there are any small businesses that have reached out to them to find candidates.

I have an hard time looking for an job in dental field? Can someone help me.?

Q) I just recently got my certificate as an dental assistant. I been to soo many interview but still couldn't get an job. I'm asian, maybe that the reason they don't want to hiring me. What should i do? Please help!!!!

A) Personally, I'd probably consider it an asset to hire someone who was Asian. Besides the stereotype of a good work ethic, you might open up my practice to a population that I did not otherwise have contact with. My dad had a Japanese assistant about 40 years ago and I still have dozens of Japanese patients - probably over 100 - who either came because they were friends of her family or are children of those original patients.

Is it safe to have a dental job when you have diabetes?

A) If your talking about having dental work done on yourself, it is safe, but make sure the Dentist you go to knows you have it. As for working at a dental job, there isn't anything about having diabetes that would affect your work as long as you take your meds and eat when you should and what you should.
