Q) Hello, my 18th birthday is coming up and i have rented a comunity hall out for my party but i have never planed or done a party this big before. What are the things i need to get for the party? what decorations would be best? could you give me any tips? thank you xxxx

A) hehe...my sister's doing this! and she doesn't know it but we're making a collage of all of her baby photos and stuff to go on the wall! :) we're getting streamers to put up around it, and little metallic confetti "18"s to put on the tables :) You'll prob'ly need lots of food......and we're having a bar because there's one there, but if you won't have one, lots of alcohol! :) Hope this helps! and happy birthday! :)

What to wear to an 18th birthday party?

Q) I'm 23 and being dragged to my boyfriend's sister's 18th, and I have no idea what to wear! It's a proper "party" but I'm not sure whether to dress up or go for jeans and a top and hope I can hide in a corner from drunk teenagers! Any suggestions on how I should dress? What sort of style/outfit should I go for? And hair, make-up etc? I want to look good but hmmm... Also ettiquette - shall I join in the drunken revalry or play the "older brothers girlfriend" part? His family will be there but luckly they've seen me in a state! Help please! :o) Xx~xX

Guidance on planning an 18th birthday party in Tameside / Manchester.?

Q) I am trying to organise a party at short notice, namely 5 weeks from now, and despite trying 30-40 places, I have had no luck! Everyone who has a room free, doesn't "do" 18ths. If you have been to one recently, within Tameside, please let me know where it was and what you thought of it. I am running out of ideas. Thank you.

A) I feel for you. My nephew is 18 in September and we've tried all over our local area and surrounding towns and no one will take on an 18th as they reckon that half of my nephews friends will be underage and wont take the risk with their licences. We've ended up planning a home party and he's been promised a big one for his 19th - although it's not the same. Hope you have more luck than us and can find something. Q) Any ideas? How did you celebrate yours? Was thinking of a party but everyone's having one so wouldn't be that memorable. Would like to go to a club with friends mayb but most would be under 18. A) Well for my 18th my mum and dad took me to Spain which was great but for my 21st I wanted to Celebrate it with my friends so I hired a 16 seater hummer and went roiund Manchester it was great! As most of your friends wont be old enough to get in any of the clubs I would hire a limo and have a party or something like that so you can spend it with all your friends x (Hope you have a great one which ever you choose) x

A) Depends on how much you want to spend. A gold chain (bargains at Half Price Jewellers) or even a bottle of perfume? Money is nice but its even nicer to buy something and wrap it up all nice. Hope this helps - enjoy the party!

A) ooow definitely has to be something special!! :P i didn't really do much for my 18th (regret it now), but a friend of mine hired a limo, we went round town clubbing and everything was great!! felt like a celeb for the night!! :) maybe u could hire out a hall and have ur own private party....or just go on a pub crawl (if everyone's 18). maybe u can have a big girly shopping spree in London...in preparation for the party (reason to buy more clothes :P)

Q) i have had a fab sugestion from an answer i got a while ago for an 18th birthday for my daughter, .. a gift box for every year of her life! any suggestions what I should put in each box ?i have a few ideas but not 18 . i would really appreciate any ideas and give her a really fab birthday as I think this idea is really unique and she is so so dear to us (her mum and dad) we want it to be special . thanks in advance

A) I just posted this list on the other question you aksed. Here it is again anyways. I do not know you or your daughter well enough to suggest actual gifts but here are some ideas you can work off of: -a framed photograph of you and her when she was just a baby (black and white would be nice) -perhaps a nice piece of jewlery (like pearls, or a ring or earrings, that she'd like) - write her a poem, that is an excellent idea - maybe a key to your house or something to symbolize that even though she will be far away, she is always welcome back home - get you and her something that match (similiar necklace, rink, a locket, shirt, anything that you and her both like) - a spa gift certificate that you and her can go to, or her and a friend can go out to. (manicure, pedicure) -something that you have saved from when she was young, like a picture she drew you or a stuffed animal - a book she likes - a notebook/diary/journal for university - a stationary kit so she can write you while she is away - get her something that recognizes the fact that she is growing up. (maybe a bottle of wine) -nail polish/lipstick; makeup -a perfume she likes -if she likes writing get her an empty notebook, if she likes photography get her a camera (something that will inspire and support her interests) - make a scrapbook there are so many different things that you can do. Just be creative and try to think of things that remind you of your daughter. You don't have to buy them, you can make them, or give her stuff from youth that may be sentimental for her to carry over into adulthood. Try to be symbolic in some of the things you get for her. And remember that she is becoming an independant person. I'm sure your daughter loves you very much, and try to allow your gifts to reflect that. I hope your daughter has an amazing birthday, and let me know how it goes!

A) You can throw a "Tasteless" or a "Trailer Trash" party! I've seen this idea around the net for awhile now, but never been to one! The idea is to be as tacky as possible. Your guest should wear hideous outfits--the worse the better. I think with this as your theme you wouldn't need to go over $100. Check out the link below. Q) Hi! My boyfriend and I are planning each other's 18th birthdays. His is in November, and we live in the Midwest. I've hit a few snags trying to figure out what to do. 1. I threw him a surprise party last year, so I don't want to do that again. 2. I'd like to avoid having it at either his house or my house, because there will be many guests and we simply don't have the room. 3. I wanted to have a bonfire, since it will be quite chilly here, but the only place I can think of having it is in my backyard. We go to different high schools and not all of his friends know me or like me, even though we've been dating for over two years and I knew him before even his friends did. To be honest, I don't like the idea of kids who aren't fond of me overrunning my house, so I'd like to have it in a neutral location. Also, I'm afraid that since I will be inviting many people, our late-night hooting and hollering will my bother my neighbors. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks bunches!

A) Since you will have boys and family members at your party, then keep it simple. Maybe a punch fountain with hou'dours. Maybe play some prank games to spice the party up a little. Have one of your guy friends that nobody knows and have him play the part of the new boyfriend who walks in during the cake and ice cream and announces he wants to get married, now that your 18. Your family will flip. Just come up with funny simple pranks and your birthday will be one not to forget.
